Blast loading on structures

This service involves modeling and assessment of blast induced loads on structural components and facades for new buildings and existing facilities. To account accurately for effects of assumed threats in complex 3D topographies and their potential impact on buildings of interest, surrounding landscapes and structures are also modeled.

ESI Security Technology’s approach to blast load analysis is to account for reflecting and shielding effects of surrounding structures. Buildings and adjacent environment are modeled in sufficient detail to obtain an accurate estimate of blast wave propagation, and assess the load impact of assumed threats on the structural elements of building exterior and interior. A 3D computer model is created to evaluate the blast loads (pressures, impulses, etc.) on the building perimeter within the defined blast scenarios. Structural and surrounding details such as vehicle access barriers, blast barriers, parking zone layouts, vehicle access controlled zones, structural hardening retrofits and additions are considered in the model.
